President - Trina Grieshaber

Vice President - Pat Hunkins

I started in the world of technical writing in 1994, therefore making me a 15+ year veteran in the field of technical writing. “So, what’s this kid got to offer our society, you may ask?” Well, I’ve worked with some of the nations most notable companies; John Deere, Simplicity, Cooper Power Systems, TRAK international (Division of Textron) and Harley-Davidson Motor Company to name a few. I have seen different companies and different methodologies to obtain similar results. Although I never lay claim to being the end-all, be-all technical writer (because I truly don’t believe that entity exists), I believe that we all have something to learn from one another, no matter our experience, our companies, and/or education; we can all stand to learn something from one another.
My goal, is to lend what I know to the STC, in fact, I will be looking into mentoring programs as well. I wish I knew of these types of programs when I was getting started in this field. I see them as a completely beneficial part of our business, and I believe ongoing training in our field is priceless. I am honored to be a member of STC, my goal is to give what I can to our society, to help make a difference and help bring us forward. For further information on me, please feel free to check out my Linkedin page, search, “Pat Hunkins”, ask me to link, it would be my priviledge.
Secretary - Ericka Loynes
Ericka Loynes is a new resident of Milwaukee. She, along with her husband and son, moved from Illinois in August 2008. She was most recently employed with Compuware Corporation as a technical writer until April 2009. Ericka earned her master’s degree in English from Northern Illinois University (NIU) with an emphasis in rhetoric and professional writing. She held an assistantship as the publications and editorial graduate assistant in NIU’s Orientation & First-Year Experience office and was the president of the Society for Technical Communication, Northern Illinois University chapter (STC-NIU) from 2007–2008. Ericka received an STC academic scholarship, granted for exhibiting “potential in the field of technical communication, strong academic records, and high recommendations from instructors,” and she has published articles in Byline, STC Chicago’s newsletter, and in Tieline, The Society Leaders’ newsletter for STC.
Treasurer - Jim Moroney
My background in technical communications began as a catalog/technical writer for the Gleason Reel company in 1984. Most recently, during my employ at Compuware, I documented and developed quality procedures at GE Healthcare and also produced a training program for fiduciary representatives at Northwestern Mutual Life. In between those opportunities, I spent 11 years producing technical and promotional videos and publications at the Oilgear Company, followed by a 7 year term at Cooper Power Systems producing product support documentation.
Over the years I have benefited by the programming provided to me by STC and the great people I have met. Serving as treasurer for our Milwaukee chapter of STC is a way I can payback and pay forward to our organization. I look forward to working with the board in the upcoming year and having the opportunity to meet and serve our members.
